Lots of corporations are now turning to infographics to present information in an attractive format and you could do the same. IKEA is exceptionally good at this. If you purchase anything from IKEA, you'll find the assembly manual has no text – just pictures and illustrations showing how assembly is to be done. Other companies like Eloqua have some superb infographics which combine text with illustrations in an appealing way.

Video storytelling also works exceptionally well. YouTube adds tens of thousands of videos every day. Companies are forming their own YouTube or Vimeo channels to tell their story visually. The keys to success with videos for business are:

Keep them short and tightly focused. Around 3 - 4 minutes generally seems to work best.

Be mindful of the quality of your material. Video clips with an amateurish look-and-feel aren't good.

If you have a complex topic, break it down into episodes or create a series.

Try and inject both educational and entertainment elements into each video clip. If you do this, you might get fans who look forward to upcoming episodes with enthusiasm.

Smartphones are getting better and better at recording video and may be OK for capturing something spontaneous or highly topical.

Try and think more like a broadcaster and less like a marketer when making video material.
